Emily S. Conover received a BS degree from Purdue University, and a BA and an MFA with a concentration in painting and drawing from the University of Maryland. She has been teaching painting and drawing at the University of Maryland since 1999.
Ms. Conover has participated in exhibitions in the metro Washington, DC area as well as in Belgium, New York City, Los Angeles, and Long Island City, NY. Most notable of these exhibitions include Shtik Fleisch Mit Tzvei Eigen at the FotoMuseum in Antwerp, Belgium, curated by Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin, Translation, curated by Annie Gawlak at Arts 901 in Washington, DC, and Seeing Red: A Juried Exhibition, curated by Sam Gilliam at Arts/Harmony Hall, Fort Washington, MD. She was selected as one of ten Washington, DC area artists for the exhibition New Talent at Rockville Arts Place. She received the juror’s award for her entry in the traveling exhibition Drawing and Redefining Drawing: Invitations and Selections by Manon Cleary sponsored by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
