Advisors in the Department of Art provide undergraduate students with guidance for declaring the art major, selecting major tracks and much more.
Department of Art Undergraduate Advising
The Department of Art has moved to a new advising system. We will no longer have four faculty advisors assigned to students according to credit level.
Students accepted into the graphic design concentration will continue to be advised by Graphic Design Program Director Reiko Chacey. All other art majors will be advised by Emily Conover. Please make an appointment by emailing Emily Conover. Include your UID in your request.
Scheduling an Appointment
Fall and spring semester advising hours are as follows:
- Tuesdays & Thursdays: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
- Wednesdays: 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Hours during January and the summer months will be announced as they are solidified.
The office for advising is on the first mezzanine (short stairs across from the elevator on the first floor) M1322. Please make an appointment before dropping by.
There is a two-part advising system in the College of Arts and Humanities. If you have both department and college advising blocks on your registration, you must schedule appointments with both.
We ask you to bear with us as we move to this new single-advisor system. We are confident that this will be a clearer and more efficient system, but there will naturally be a period of adjustment. As always, please do not wait until the last minute to schedule your appointments—especially if you need blocks removed. It is important that you take responsibility for your academic progress and work with the advisors to complete your requirements efficiently. The better informed you are about your academic progress, the better the system will work for you.
