Early in life, I came upon Herman Maril, the first Professor of Art at the University of Maryland. Herman was a continuing mentor to me.Herman would say the first day of each UMD class that "Painting is Painting; Painting is Painting; Painting is Painting” and would reveal the timeless gift to mankind that the simple making of ART by hand with the intuitive intellect gives making, truth, wholeness, goodness and beauty, the cosmic harmony of creation that Man bestows to reality by itself for all time.

I have brought this reality of painting on canvas to art by painting and teaching around the world to children and to all mankind through galleries, museums, universities to honor the gift of making as well I can to the world.
