'Testing' by Lauren Lee McCarthy

A screen inside a building that says 'Someone Close To You.'

'Testing' by Lauren Lee McCarthy

About the Screening

The Department of Art presents an outdoor screening of new work by Visiting Artist Lauren Lee McCarthy. The work will run every evening from October 22 to October 29th, between sunset and midnight.

"In an increasingly generated world, it can be difficult to find the edges of our collectively simulated dream. This generative series of tests invites you to question your own waking state. Simultaneously authoritative and absurd, you may find the instructions resemble those you constantly receive from technology directing you how to behave. With all of my work, I aim to create something that moves beyond the screen and into the physical world. In Testing, rather than passively looking, the people in the space become part of the piece as they are invited to actively engage and perform the instructions."

Join us for a lecture with the artist in the Art-Sociology Building, room 2203 on Thursday, October 26th at 5:30 p.m. A reception and a chance to speak with the artist to follow in the Clarvit Courtyard.
