Exhibition Poetic.Aesthetic. at UMD's The Art Gallery blends poetry with visual art.

Although many consider poetry and visual art to be two very different forms of expression, a group of artists whose work will be on display on the campus later this week have set out to prove that the two can indeed work in tandem.
 In order to create the pieces featured in a new exhibit opening tomorrow in the Art-Sociology Building called "Poetic. Aesthetic. An Exploration of Creativity in Poetry and Visual Art," artists were paired with poets, given a selection of poems to preview and then asked to turn those poems into something visual. The only element the artist was required to maintain from the poem was the use of text — each piece must include words somewhere within the design.
