2026 Sadat Arts for Justice and Peace Competition

About the competition
Each year, University of Maryland students are invited to create art on a theme of peace and reconciliation. Co-sponsored by The Anwar Sadat Chair for Peace and Development and Arts for All, this event fosters collaboration across the Colleges of Behavioral & Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities, showcasing the talent of students from programs across campus. Award categories include poetry, music composition, chamber music ensemble and visual art. This year we’re excited to announce the expansion of the competition to include a new category in film!

Students should create artwork based on the following quote and submit their works in one of the following categories!

"In our democracy, the only title higher and more powerful than that of president is the title of citizen. It is every citizen’s right and duty to help shape the future legacy of our nation."

Jimmy Carter, Former U.S. President
